Working Together

Allen got to come this weekend and even had an extra day since the post office will be closed on Monday.  The kids are always so excited to see their daddy and they always crowd him!

Allen loves to nap and sleep with Rock, so he makes sure that he gets to put Rock down for naps whenever he can.  And, like father, like son, they both just LOVE to sleep.  And, both of them are wild sleepers, they never stay in one place for very long.  Because they slept together so much this weekend, I was able to quite of few pictures of them!

When Allen and I got our new sectional last year, our plan was to move the old one down to the kids' tv room.  One night when I was working, Allen called me and told me that one of the pieces of the sectional was stuck in the stairwell; he had tried to take the couch down the stairs by himself.  And do you know what I said to him right before I left for work?  I told him to wait for me until the next day and that I would help him.  He NEVER listens!!  Well, with the couch stuck in the stairwell, he also caused a hole in the wall.  I've been after him ever since to fix the hole he made.  Finally, this weekend he got what he needed to fix it.  The kids loved trying to help him.  The girls helped him sand the wall and Rock just watched with his potato chips always close by.

The Birds and the Bees

Tonight the girls and I were searching the internet for any previews about Eclipse.  One of the clips we were watching got a little bit racey with Edward and Bella making out.  Right as I shut it off, Danni asked me if they were going to have sex!!  First of all, I tried not to show how shocked I was.  I am very grateful and proud that she was comfortable enough to ask me such questions without thinking it was a big deal.  I just didn't expect it this soon.  Sammi was a little embarrassed though, she sitting away from me just giggling and told Danni she couldn't believe she would ask me something like that.

So Mom mode kicked in and I decided to it a learning moment.  I explained to Sam that it was okay to ask me such questions and that they should always feel comfortable to ask me anything.  Then I asked Danni what she though sex was.  She explained to me that sex is when a boy and girl kiss alot and sometimes they do it naked.  Oh how I love the view of the world from a child's eyes!!

Then I asked Danni if her and her friends talk about sex with each other.  She informed me that she didn't need to, because she has always known everything there is to know about sex.  I wish I could have captured her being so matter of fact.  If you know her, I'm sure you can only imagine her saying these things.  I proceeded to ask if either of them had any other questions. Sam just asked if we could change the subject and Danni said that she didn't need to know anything else, she knew enough.

It was quite the few moments there.  Like I said, I was totally dumbfounded with the question at first.  But I hope that I handled it okay and that my girls will always feel comfortable to ask me any of those not-so-comfortable questions.

School Program

The girls had their end of school program known as Art in the Street, but it was windy and rainy and very cold.  So the program was held in the little tiny gym instead.  Of course we got there later than everyone else and ended up sitting on the floor.  It was really hard to get any pictures because the place was so crowded!!  I did the best I could but they are all really blurry.

Danni's class did a couple of really cute dances and Danni kept trying to hide behind the girl in front of her because she did not want to be on camera.  Sam's class did a dance to Thriller and they did a great job!!  As Rock, Mom and I sat on the floor watching, Rock made a couple of friends.  He shared his cars and fruit snacks and they had lots of fun.  When Sam came out to perform, he tried running after her and I had to run out on the floor to get him.  During the middle of one of her songs, he ran out and was running back and forth in between the music teacher and the class.  They only way for me to get him was to interrupt the whole program and walk in front of everyone's cameras, so I just sat back and pretended that I didn't know whose kid that was.  But, everyone saw he was mine because he ran right back to me.  Aren't those parents that can't keep their kids under control so annoying??

Sunday

This is Rock throwing a temper tantrum before church.  I've gotten to the point where usually I just ignore him and when he realizeds no one is paying attention, he finishes his tantrum.  Today, though, I just had to get pictures for you, Hon.  Every couple of seconds he would poke his head up to see if anyone was watching and then would go on with his fake cry.  I couldn't help but laugh at him!

The kids looked so adorable for church, and when they aren't fighting they are so sweet to one another.  We sure are missing you Dad!!

Dad's Home

After meeting Allen at Becky's house we headed for home. Mom stayed the night with Becky's family and Sarah came home with us. Allen and I mowed the lawn and tidied up the yard. Then the kids ran through the sprinklers and played with hose spraying each other. Rock became very territorial with the hose and at one part accidently soaked himself. It was actually quite funny, even though he didn't think so.

On Sunday we went to church as a family and Allen taught his class in Elders' Quroum.  After church we all relaxed and rested.  Allen and Rock actually napped together, they both love it!!  Then we had a great Sunday dinner before Allen and Sarah headed back.  We were all tearful as they drove off and are looking forward to seeing him again!!

Busy Weekend

Mom, the kids, and I went down to Becky's on Friday to watch Sarah at her Kindermusik recital.  It was really cute and Sarah did a great job!!  I got to hold Baby Ru through most of it and she fell asleep on my shoulder.  I, in turn, fell asleep on her head.  When I woke up, I think I had been drooling because my cheek was soaked and so was Baby Ru's head!  After the recital we headed back to Becky's and visited.

The next morning came early, and the day was very busy.  Zach had a soccer game in the early morning that we were able to attend.  The kids had lots of fun and, of course, Zach did was the best goalie ever!  Then we were able to go to one of Zach's baseball games.  It was getting hotter in the day, but we all had fun and once again, Zach did great!  After the games, we headed back to Becky's again and Allen surprised us being there so early.  The kids were so excited!!

The Dentist

This was Rock's first visit to the dentist and he wasn't too sure about what to think.  We laid him across my lap and the dentist's lap as they cleaned his teeth and then examined them.  Perfect bill of health for Rock!  His teeth look great and the dentist didn't have any concerns!
The girls also had they semi annual dentist trip, and neither one had cavities!  They have perfect teeth.  With as much candy as they eat, I really am surprised, but so far, so good.  At their ages I had a ton of cavities, so I am very proud to say that neither Sam or Danni have ever had a cavity.

They love going to see Dr. Doug.  He has a tv in the ceiling that they get to watch, and the staff always come out to play with the kids and do an activity.  And they always get to leave with a balloon.  This time, their activity was planting seeds in a pot they got to decorate.  They plan on babying these seeds and seeing how big they can get them to grow.  Wish I could be so excited about a dentist trip.

Fast Food

Out of pure laziness and utter exhaustion, we had dinner from Big J's tonight.  Both Mom and I were exhausted beyond belief, Mom suggested it and I didn't argue.  The kids were in heaven - the girls got shakes (yum) and Rock absolutely loved is puppet puppy!

Sunday

Since Allen has been working out of town and I am still working both jobs, Mom has been a great help at our house. It has been and still is an adjustment for the girls, but Rock is loving it!! He loves spending the day with Gr. Ruby and the extra attention he gets from his sisters.

Rock also loves that Gr. Ruby gets down on the ground and plays with him. Here is a picture of the lego castle he and Grandma built, which later the girls came along and tried to improve, tearing the whole thing down - Rock was not a happy little guy!

This is a picture of Rock and Sam playing around and Sam put a wig on his head - he thought it was sooooo funny!

Like Mother, Like Son

I have a picture of myself around the age of 3, wearing my pink jammies with my Dad's cowboy boots on, picking my nose. It is one of the cutest darn things ever, I must say!!! The other day, Rock tried on a pair of Bubba's rain boots and then wore them around the house. He is also at this stage of picking his nose and handing us the bugars (GROSS!!). I was able to catch this picture of him and it reminded me of my pic. I really wish I could find that picture. One of these days, when I have some free time (yeah, right!!) I'll dig it out and post it next to Rock's cute one!!

1 Years Smoke-Free

It has been a full year since Allen has quit smoking.  We are all so proud of him.  He's had a few rough moments, but he didn't give up, he has been so strong.  We didn't get to see each other on this wonderful anniversary, but I wanted Allen to know just how proud of him I am.  I knew he could do it, and I am so happy that he finally was able to believe in himself also.  The kids are also very excited for him.  We are very open and honest with the kids, and they have been great cheerleaders for their Dad.  Along with this monumental day, in 2 days we celebrate 5 years and 10 months of sobriety!!  With all these wonderful and healthy lifestyle changes, we'll get to have him around for a long time!!  I LOVE YOU, ALLEN!  Keep up the good work!

Saying Goodbye to Daddy......Again!

Allen came again this weekend and the kids loved seeing him.  He got home Saturday and we were able to have some family time.  When we talked to him on the phone he told us he was only in Brigham and then pulled into the drive a minutes later, so the kids got quite a surprise and they loved it.  Allen is still really enjoying his job, it's just been rough on everyone that it is out of town.  We just keep praying for an answer to get our family back together.

Sunday we went to church as a family and Allen talk Elder's Quorum for the first time.  He said he did a terrible job, that he kept going blank, but others stopped him several times telling him what a great job he did.  After church we went home and had nap time then Allen took off...again.  The kids were squirting him with water guns before they said their goodbyes and then chased him down the street as he drove away.  It was actually quite cute, but it always breaks Allen's heart.

The kids are home

Mom and the kids got home this evening and I was so happy to see them!!  As much as I enjoyed the time alone, I really did miss my family.  I didn't get to do anything to fun because I worked so much, but it was nice to not feel guilty about being at work, how long I slept, or having Mom take care of my kids.  But when they pulled in the drive, it was a wonderful feeling to know my family was home.

Allen had to call me in sick to church this morning because I had zero voice.  I had my lesson all ready for Sunday School, but without a voice there was no way I could teach.  So I called Allen with barely a whisper and asked him to let someone know that I would not be able to be there.  And since I didn't go to church, I got to sleep for a decent amount of time.  And when the kids got home, I was well rested instead of ornery.  They drew on the sidewalk with the chalk from the Easter Bunny and made a hopscotch grid.  Rock didn't know how to play, but was having a blast copying his sisters.  Then they started dancing around in the yard and doing flips and Rock copied them some more.  They were all so cute!!  I had dinner ready for them also and after catching up on the week's events, I got everyone showered and off to bed.  Now I know how hard it is on Allen while he is working out of town.  I knew that the kids would be back in just 6 days, but Allen's timing is still unknown at this point.  What we for our family because we love them so much!!
