Sarah's Visit
Allen took Sarah home tonight and switched vehicles again. A couple of weeks ago when we were down to Bountiful, we left our van with Randy and drove Becky's home. We needed to have our rotors turned and Randy offered to take it to their mechanic who would give us a better deal-it's so nice to know people who know people.
The three girls had lots of fun as usual. Sometimes they all argue like sisters, but always end up making up and playing for hours after. One of the afternoons, when the snow finally slowed a little, Allen pulled the kids on sleds with the 4-wheeler. Rock tried it for awhile, but his eyes kept watering from the cold and he did not like that. Finally, Allen put Rock up on the 4-wheeler behind him and Rock was a lot happier. I slept through all the fun, having worked the night before and after. What a fun time to be able to spend it with cousins.

Owie! Owie!
Today Rock had a little mishap. He was in the room with the girls and so we had to piece together the story. From what we understand Rock was jumping on the bed and fell off, bumping his head on the bedside shelf. He, of course, then screamed at the top of his lungs for a very long time. I was in bed, having worked the night before, when I heard him crying but wasn't too alarmed because this is Rock we are talking about. Then I hear 6 sets (Sam, Danni and Sarah) of feet pounding up the stairs. My door was thrown open and they all scream at once, "Daddy/Uncle Allen needs you. Rock is hurt!" I run downstairs to find Allen and Rock in the bathroom with blood dripping down Rock's chin. I see a gaping hole on the front of his chin along with a smaller cut below it and another big one on the inside of his lower lip. I assumed he bit through his lower lip in the fall and told Allen that I thought he should go to the ER.
Allen loaded him up and ran him into town. The girls stayed with me. It ended up being my the time he got there that the hole was back together and the doctor said the cut on the inside and outside didn't match up, so he didn't think Rock bit through the lip, just bit it in a few places. They watched him for a concussion for awhile and sent him home. Thank goodness it wasn't anything worse. So he will probably have 2 scars on his chin, but like the nurse said, "with a name like 'Rock' he is bound to have a few scars".
Meanwhile at home, I gave the girls rules about what they could and couldn't eat/fix, answering the phone and the door, not going outside, not screaming and running through the house, not fighting, etc., etc. They all agreed and stated their understanding. I laid back down in bed, leaving the door open. I am a very light sleeper and thought that I would just doze in and out until Allen got home and that if the girls got into anything I would for sure hear them. Apparently, I did not tell them they couldn't melt chocolate candies in the microwave so that is what they did. The chocolate burned in the bowl, ruining the bowl and it "made the kitchen stink" so they took one of my scentsy room sprays and sprayed the kitchen until it "smelled good". When Allen got home I was sound asleep and the girls were watching TV-everything was great, until he walked into the kitchen and about fell on his butt because the scentsy spray accumulated on the floor in a very thick layer. He had to scrub on his hands and knees and use the steamer to get it clean again. By the time I woke up, everything was back to normal, Allen had to fix it all. Thanks, Hon!

Visiting Family
Today we got to see the new baby and visit with Mom. Mom flew up to Becky's for Christmas this year. She arrived Christams Eve and will stay until Sunday. So this morning when I got home from work, we had breakfast and got ready to head to Bountiful for the day. Grandma Glenna and Grandpa Bob headed home and we headed to see the new baby, oh and Grandma Ruby. The kids were so excited to see their counsins!!
As soon as I walked in the door, I said hi to Grandma Ruby, washed my hands and darted for Baby Ruby (Allen and I have been just a tad bit baby hungry lately!!). She was sooooo tiny, smaller than any of my babies were when they were born, and this is Becky's fourth! I had to fight off my family just to hold her for a few minutes. Then it was Sam's turn, Danni's turn and finally Allen's turn. Surprisingly, Rock didn't care so much.
We were able to spend the day and I was able to take a nap since I worked again tonight. Becky fed us a yummy dinner - glazed ham, cheesy potatoes, sweet potato casserole and apple pie! I felt bad since she just had a baby and all, so thanks Becky! The kids played and played and played and Rock and Audrey got along really well. We also met with our financial planner-thanks for all your help, Randy! It was a very successful day.
We left in time for me to get to work and brought Sarah home with us. I love that we live close enough that my kids get to play and visit with their cousins so much. Zach is getting to the age that it's not so cool to play with girls and so he hasn't come to stay with us for quite awhile. And Becky says Audrey is still too young to come to our house, but soon she'll be able to! I did take my camera but left it in the van all day and didn't get any pictures, I was so upset with myself.
We also were able to to talk with Mom some more about moving up to Logan with us to help us out when Allen gets his job. Whether it is with the post office or the army, we are going to need some help. It sounds like it is going to benefit both parties and work out really well. So really soon, we are going to have Grandma living with us!!

Christmas Morning
This year, Grandma Glenna and Grandpa Bob came down on Christmas Eve to spend Christmas morning with us. Also, this year I had to work Christams Eve, the 7pm-7am shift. When we sat the kids down to tell the horrible news about my having to work that night and that they would have to wait til I got home around 8 or 8:30 to open their gifts, to my surprise, no one was upset. Danni just said, "Yeah, we get to sleep in!" I thought they were going to be so distraught about my not being there, but nope, they were happy to be able to sleep in-the little terds!!
We've been telling the kids not expect a whole lot for Christmas this year. We told them that we should be happy with the things we do have, like a house, vehicles, clothes and food, because so many people don't even have that. We explained that Santa just wasn't going to be able to everyone a whole lot this year. And to our surprise they were ok with that. Danni was even heard to say, "It doesn't matter what we have, as long as we have our family". In our prayers leading up to Christmas they always would give thanks for home, our car, the food we were able to eat. I really think we got through to them this year!
On that note, they still made a haul this year!! Sam got a new stereo with an ipod dock that she just loves!! She also got some boots from Grandma along with lots of clothes from Grandma and Mom and Dad. She got some books, a new DS game, a movie and stamp set, socks, underwear, etc, etc. She was very happy with her Christmas. Danni finally got her Gymnastics mat that she has been asking for for every holiday and birthday for the last 2 years. She also got boots from Grandma, some clothes from Grandma and Mom and Dad, movie, DS game, books, socks, underwear, etc., etc. They were pretty embarrassed about their underwear because Grandpa was watching them open their gifts. There's one picture of Sam trying to hurry and hide hers becasue everyone could see! Rock got alot of VERY LOUD toys - thanks Holden and Katelyn!! He got a guitar that does not have a volume control, just LOUD. He also a workbench, an education talking dog, some tonka trucks and track and lots of needed clothes. They had a great Christmas!!
After presents were opened, we continued on to our Christmas breakfast tradition of blue cheese biscuits. We also had hashbrowns, eggs, and peppered bacon - yum! Then it was off to bed for me because I work again tonight!! As I went to bed, I found present on my pillow. It was from my honey. When I opened it, I was sooooo, sooooo excited because it was a box of perfume, journey from Mary Kay, which I had been wanting for quite some time. I opened the box, because how could I not smell good when going to sleep? When I took it out of the box, I thought, "this bottle is awfully full" you couldn't see the liquid moving at all. I shook it and still now movement, I sprayed it, nothiing sprayed. I sprayed it some more and got rougher with and still nothing came out. I was jipped!! The bottle was empty!! Allen's sister sells Mary Kay and that's where Allen got it from. When I told him about it, he said, "that's probably why I got such a good deal on it!". Later when he brought it up to Kelly, she was so embarrassed. Who knows what happened, it must have come that way from the company - oh well.
Grandma took the girls to the movie and they saw New Moon, which Sam has been wanting to see since it came out. They loved the movied but hated the ending, Sam was very disappointed. How could they dare to end it like that, she said!! (I won't ruin it for those of you who haven't seen it yet) For dinner we had a turkey with all the trimmings, and my double layer pumpkin pie and banana cream pie. It was a great day. The food was great, the company was great and the time spent together was wonderful.

Christmas Eve
Grandma Glenna and Grandpa Bob are planning on coming down today to stay with us and the kids are so excited. And since I work tonight, we opened our traditional Christams Eve gift in the mid morning. Of course, it was the kids' jammies, which they all know they are getting. We also exchanged our gifts amongst each other. Each year, we draw names within our family and we exchnaged them on Christmas Eve. Rock got me the book The Undaunted by Gerald Lund, which I am so excited about!! I got Bubba a puppy calenday/planner and she was ecstatic. Danni got Allen a zip up hoodie which she was so proud of and Allen adores. Allen got Sam a Myley Cyrus CD and after tomorrow gifts are open she will love it even more!! And Sam got Rock a Mickey Mouse outfit, which he didn't really care much about it after the wrapping was gone.
I plan on taking a nap today before work while Allen and kids get the house ready for visitors. We'll have fried chicken and mashed potatoes and gravy for dinner and then off to work for me. I can't believe Christmas is already here!! It came so fast this year.

Welcome Baby Ruby!!

My sister had her baby!! A little girl, named Ruby Noel. I got an email this morning from my brother-in-law saying her water broke around midnight and they headed to the hospital. She was born at 0737, 7 pounds 13 ounces and takes after her favorite aunt - as cute as a button. I've only seen her in pictures, but hopefully this weekend I will get to hold her!! Congrats, Becky and Randy!
Smoke-Free, Alcohol-Free and Drug-Free!!!
Today Allen celebrates 5 1/2 years of sobriety. The kids and I are so proud of him-what an accomplishment. And two days ago we celebrated 8 months of no smoking!! He has come so far and has done so well with it. He has set a very good example for our kids and I love him for it. Good job, Hon!! I love you!

Liver Day Get Together
Each year we try to get together with Sammi's liver donor, her Uncle Shaun (my sister's husband), and his family to celebrate her miracle of life. This year we met them in Draper at In and Out Burger. Since we moved up north away from Emery County we don't get to see them that often and it was nice to visit. Gage is growing up and looked so much like a man, I can remember holding him as a baby! He's such a good kid. Ashton is growing up as well. She is a beautiful young woman - she really takes after her Aunt Tiffi!! She, too, is a good example to my kids. They really are a good family and we are so very grateful to have them in our lives.
I don't know that we can ever thank Shaun enough for saving our baby's life. I'm sure as a parent he can somewhat understand, but we will forever be thankful that he was so willing to be a lifesaver. I get emotional even now, 7 years later, thinking about the sacrafice he was willing to take for our little girl and our family. Thanks, Shaun. Thanks for saving our baby. Thanks for giving us the gift of life!

The Princess and the Frog
To celebrate Liver Day this year, our family went to a movie. We LOVE the movies and when given the options of bowling or movies, everyone voted MOVIES! We went to the Princess and the Frog. The girls loved it, of course. Rock, thankfully, fell asleep. I, too, fell asleep-not on purpose, but I did work last night and work again tonight. Allen, surprisingly, was not impressed. He was very bored and when we left said he hated the show. Oh well, it was the time together that mattered. And if the kids had fun, then it was worth it!

Liver Day #7
Today we celebrate Sam's 7th Liver Day. It seems so unreal, sometimes it feels as if it were so long ago and the next minute it seems as though just yesterday we were watching Sammi battle for her life. She is doing so well. She sees Dr. Molly every 3 months and gets blood drawn monthly. Compared to daily blood draws and weekly doctor appointments (which she had to do 7 years ago) this is a great schedule. She now is taking only 2 medications, which she can dose out herself; 7 years ago she was taking 28 different meds and now she can swallow pills better than I can!!
She is now in the 5th grade and doing well. We can see the progress she is making in school and it is so wonderful to watch her excel. She still struggles and has to work extra hard at things, but she is so strong and doing so well. Her teachers always have the best things to say about her. Her teacher told me that there was another little girl that was really struggling with her school work. She had missed a lot of school because of an illness and didn't want to even try to catch up. Sam told the little girl her story and said to her that it isn't always easy, but that's why they have their friends and teachers. That little girl has worked very hard ever since and always asks Sam for her opinion. That is so much like Sammi-she has always cared for others and tries to make sure they are happy.
Even in the hospital before her transplant, she was so caring for others. She was barely hanging onto to life and was so miserable. She heard another little kid crying and Sam was so concerned about this person and kept asking why she was crying and if she was ok. Incredible!!
Sammi has grown up so much this year, both physically and mentally. As a mom it is so hard to watch them grow and need me less and less. But at the same time I am so proud of her when I see her struggle through something very difficult and succeed. Even when she doesn't accomplish what she was hoping to, she learns something form the situation and I can see how much she is growing up.
Seven years ago, if I had to guess what life would be like now, this is definitely not what I would have expected. But that's OK. I have Sam and anything else we can deal with. I am grateful for the challenges we have gone through, it has made me the person I am today-better and stronger. I am grateful for being raised with the gospel and having the background that my parents taught me. I believe that it made it easier to live through the trials and challenges that we have had. And I am very thankful that at the age of 8 Sam decided she wanted to be baptized and that she started our family on the road to where we are now - a Forever Family.

Baptism Day
After having to cancel her baptism in October, Danni was baptized and confirmed today by her dad. She was so very excited. In our stake, each child is given an hour and is able to do their own program. Danni was able to ask whoever she wanted to be part of her program. She asked Grandma Ruby to be the choirister and I played the piano. She had Zach say the opening prayer, then Holden talked on baptism. Next, she was baptized. Then Kelly and Katelyn sang "I Am A Child of God". Then Kris spoke on the Holy Ghost followed by Danni being confirmed. She asked Ashton to say the closing prayer. The Bishop was there to conduct the ceremony and Danni asked Shane and Randy to be her witnesses. She was so dang cute today. A few times the Bishop would address just Danni and she just looked at him with her eyes big and the wheels turning in her head. She listened to it all and took it all in. Even Holden and Kris and addressed her specifically during their talks and she drank it all in very seriously. She does not do anything half way. When she makes a commitment, she does everything in her power to fulfill it so she listened to everything anyone told her. Danni had lots of family and several ward members there to give love and support. After the baptism we went back to the house for lunch. I did not get any pictures, which I am so upset about. Even so, it was a great day and Danni was on cloud 9 all day. I am so proud you, Bubba, and I love you so much!
