Parent Teacher Conference

Today was Parent Teacher Conferences and once again both girls got raving reviews. Sam is progressing so much and all the teachers just adore her. I am told that she is so helpful and all the kids love her. Also that she is always very nice and sweet to everyone. I asked the teacher if we were talking about the same kid!?! Actually, I am very proud of her. I know things don't always come easy for her and she really has to work hard at things, but she is doing amazing. I love you Sam and am very proud of your determination!
Danni, too, is doing awesome. She is excelling in every subject and is at advancement placement in reading and writing. She loves school and anything to do with school work. She loves to read and makes sure to read every night, at least her 20 minutes, usually more. Good Job, Bubba, I love you!!

Dr. Molly

Sam had a check-up with Dr. Molly today and things went great - again! Dr. Molly was impressed with how much she is growing and how well all her liver numbers look. Once again she had to go show her off to Dr. Myers, the surgeon. Because they all thought that there was no way Sam would make it all those years ago, Dr. Molly loves to show her off and let everyone know how much of a medical miracle she is. We absolutely LOVE Dr. Molly!!!

Demolition Derby

This weekend Mom came up from St. George to visit. She plans on dividing her time between ours and Becky's houses. Tonight Becky and Randy and family came up with Mom to go to the Demolition Derby. We met at Olive Garden (yummy!) for dinner and then we all went to the Cache County Sheriff's Department Demolition Derby. The kids were excited and it definitely lived up to their expectations. I have to admit that it got pretty intense at times and I really enjoyed myself. Allen and Randy decided that they want to one day participate in a derby (we'll see if it ever really happens).
I was scheduled to work at the nursing home that night, so we were making sure to leave on time. On our way out of the fair grounds we stopped at the bathrooms for the kids to all go. The next thing I know Mom comes running out yelling at Allen to take the baby away from me and then Sam comes out screaming and crying with blood dripping everywhere. Somehow she had cut her hand on one of the bathroom stall doors. I pretty well had to tackle her in order for her to let me look at her hand and get it cleaned up. It looked pretty deep so we went to the ER. They numbed it up to look at it because she was quite hysterical. It was a clean cut so they were able to glue it shut instead of stitches, which made Sam much happier.
Mom was planning on going back to Bountiful, but ended up coming home with us so that she could watch Rock and Bubba while we were at the ER. Thanks Mom for helping out!!
I did finally make it to work, but was an hour late. Thankfully the nurse going off duty was understanding and willing to work with me. And I'm so glad Sam's hand wasn't any worse than it was. When I saw all that blood I was really scared. I can handle the blood, but when it is on your own daughter, it is something else entirely.

Dentist

The girls had another dentist appointment today and it went great! No cavities and their teeth look really good. Bubba needs to have sealants done, but other than that no dental work! But, we did get a referral to an orthodontist for Sam to have her teeth looked at to consider braces. Dr. Doug thinks she is ready-man she is getting way to big!!

Many Changes

On August 30 Allen was ordained an Elder by our brother-in-law, Randy. It has been such a long, trying road to get here, but we knew one day we would. Now we are able to go through the temple and become a forever family. We are so excited! The girls are beside themselves with anticipation, especially Danni. She bore her testimony in sacrament on Sunday starting with "I'd like to bury my testimony..." So cute!! She was very nervous. There was another sister waiting on the stand when Danni got there and she turned to her and asked if she could go first; the sister of course, said yes. Sometimes I wish I had their courage and could say exactly what I wanted :) She finished her testimoney saying how excited she was "to go to the temple and be sealed to my family. Amen." And then ran off the stage and back to our bench. She got many thank yous and congratulations from the congregation after sacrament.

First Day of School

School started on the 20th of August and the girls were so ready for school. Sam has started 5th grade and she told me that she now "Rules the School"!! Her best friend is in a different class this year, which she is sad about but dealing with well. She still gets to walk to and from school with her, so she is happy about that. Danni started 2nd grade is absolutely loves school! Her best friend also is in a different class this year but they get to see each other at recess. They are loving school and we are looking forward to a GREAT year!!

Starting Daycare

With the girls back in school, I have lost my helpers, which means I have lost sleep. So we decided to have Rock go to daycare 2 half days a week. He goes to Best Friends at the hospital that I work at and it is a great center. I think it has been hardest on Allen. He really didn't want to start Rock in any daycare and he is the one that has to drop Rock off in the mornings, therefore is the "bad guy". Rock's first day went well. I called to check on him and his teachers said he was doing great. After Allen left he didn't cry at all. He blew bubbles and ate lunch and seemed to have great fun. He was still sleeping when I picked him up and seemed a little confused about the day. He was very clingy to me and had zero facial expressions for about an hour. His second day went better. He did cry when Allen left, but when I picked him up he was playing with puzzles and kids and was having lots of fun. And he acted himself the rest of the day. As much as I hate that he has to go to daycare, I think the socialization will be really good for him. We are hoping for good times!!

This is Allen and Rock the morning of his first day of daycare. He just adores his Daddy!

Memory Lane

I found these adorable pictures of my girls as I was going through some old things. They bring back some great memories and really make you ponder about life.

This picture was taken January 16, 2003. It was the same day Sam was released from the hospital after her liver transplant. Before she was admitted for that stay, I kept putting off doing pictures and almost lost the chance to ever have pictures done as a family again. So we had them taken they day she was released. These two girls are absolute miracles and they are so beautiful, on the outside as well as the inside. I just love them!! (I just love the Sammi's chubby cheeks and Bubba's pudgy little hands!)

This picture was taken November 2005. They just grow up so fast, and sometimes you don't realize it until you look back through time and see how little they used to be. I wish they could stay sweet, innocent little creature forever!

Kids Doing Dishes?

So I heard the girls making a racket of some sort and when I went to check on them, ready to lose my cool and make them clean up after themselves, I found them doing the dishes. WITHOUT BEING ASKED!! I was such a proud mom. I made sure to take pictures of the occassion so I could look back and remember what great kids they are; especially when I'm having one of those moments when I'm about to lose my mind because they WILL NOT listen!!

Sam's Birthday Perm

For her birthday this year, Sam decided she wanted a perm. Grandma Glenna helped her pay for the perm and she was so excited. I took her the appointment and took pictures as she got started with the rollers. I got back just before the rollers were taken out. But as she and Julie walked to the sink, Sam told her that she was glad I wasn't there or I would be taking a ton of pictures. Luckily, for her, I showed up just in time!!
