Good Night, Daddy!

We have been waiting impatiently for Allen to start his new job with the post office, and now it is finally here. Tomorrow is his first day of training in Salt Lake and then next week he starts in Helper. He left tonight to stay at Becky's house because he has to be there at 7am. I worked last night and then wene to church this morning, so I went to bed and was sleeping when he left. But the kids told me that Rock was so very upset when Daddy left and stood outside screaming to be able to go with Daddy.

Sam told me that a couple of hours after Allen left that she was missing him so much that she called him. She said that Dad started crying because he missed her too. When I finally talked to Allen tonight, he said that he cried all the way to Brigham City. Sarah was with him because she stayed at our house over the weekend. Allen said that Sarah cried with him. When he was finally starting to gain control of himself, Sammi called to tell him she missed him and he started to cry again!! When they got to Becky's, Sarah ran in the house and right to her bedroom and started crying because she wants to live with Bubba and Sam! What a long day of sadness and crying!!

After the kids' baths tonight, right before I put Rock down to bed, they all posed together to tell Daddy good night and blow him kisses. We love you, Hon! Good luck tomorrow!

Baby Ruby was blessed this weekend, so we headed down on Saturady afternoon to see everyone.  Katie and Blake came from Colorado and Dad came up from Price.  Kris, Ashton and Gage came up on Sunday and lots of Randy's family came as well.  Saturday, Randy brought home the short bus from work and took the kids for a ride.  I tagged along thinking it would be fun.  He stopped at Dairy Queen and got the girls all a treat-he is such a great uncle!  The kids had a ton of fun!!
We all stayed at Becky's house so Sunday morning was pretty hectic getting everyone ready for church.  Luckily church didn't start til 1pm.  All the friends and family that hadn't seen baby Ruby yet hogged her all during sacrament, so I didn't get to hold her until after church!!  The blessing was really nice, it was the first blessing Allen has gotten to participate in.  After sacrament, we all went back to Becky's for visiting and lunch.  The kids all had fun playing with each other outside, even though it was quite chilly.

Mom ended up staying at Becky's to visit with Katie more.  We headed home for work and school the next day.  Since Allen hasn't started work yet, Mom was able to go down to Kris' for a week or so also-and she drove her own car!!!!!!!!  That is way impressive since she hates to drive.  We had a great weekend and I loved to be able to see my sisters!

I can hardly believe that Rock turned 2 this year! We had a small celebration at home with just the family. Rock has really been into trucks and cars lately, so he got a BIG tonka truck and lots of little Hot Wheels cars. Gma Glenna gave him a carrier for his cars and a mat to play on. Gma Ruby gave him a outfit for church that he looks so adorable in!! He had a great birthday!

First Time for Everything

Sunday was Scout Day in our ward which means all the scouts wear there uniforms and the Elder's Quorum passes the sacrament. Allen was asked to help pass the sacrament and happily obliged. He was very nervous about messing up, though, because he had never done it. He got a little crash course instruction and then passed the sacrament perfectly! Rock wasn't too sure about Daddy leaving our row. At first he tried to follow Allen to the front of the chapel. After I got him calmed down from he was okay until he saw Allen walking up the aisle again. He kept yelling out, "my da, my da!" and pointing at him. When Allen didn't look at him or respond in any way, Rock looked at me unbelieving that he Daddy wouldn't drop everything and run to him. It was actually pretty cute. When Allen returned to sit with us, Rock was extremly happy. He is such a Daddy's Boy-so not fair!

Katelyn's Baptism

Katelyn got baptized this last weekend!! I had to work and didn't get to go, but Allen and kids headed up to Rexburg after school on Friday so that they could be there. Allen stood in as one of the witnesses and the girls sang with all of the counsins. I'm told it was a very good ceremony. I'm sad that I had to miss it. Congratulations, Katelyn!! I asked Allen to get lots of pics for me since I couldn't be there, so here's a few pictures that he and girls took!

After the baptism, they family headed to a little fun house where the kids got to play on a bunch of bounce houses. They had pizza for dinner and got to visit and have fun with each other. Lance and Gina were there again and my kids LOVE them! Rock especially adores Gina and wouldn't let her out of his sight!! Then Allen and the kids headed home. He got to Shelley and realzed that he'd left all of Samrah's medications at Kelly's house. And since his phone gave out this weekend he had to drive all the back to get them. They got home just before I had to leave for work that night, but I did get my loves and kisses before heading out.

Missin' My Kids

The way my schedule has been this last week I haven't been able to spend a whole lot of time with the kids and I have really MISSED them! When I got home Saturday morning, Rock wouldn't have anything to do with me. He's usually the one I can count on to snuggle with me and give me lots of love. Since he was too busy playing, I PLEADED with all my heart to the girls. I asked them if they would please lay with me and watch a movie, any movie they wanted, while I fell asleep. At the time they were playing school and acted SO very busy. Danni conversed privately with Sam and then came to tell me that Sam didn't want to. I then asked Bubba if she wanted to. She looked at me like I was putting her through torture. She knew how much I wanted to snuggle with them and didn't want to hurt my feelings. So she said, "how 'bout another tme, Mom?" I said sure, with a few tears in my eyes. Then she ran up to me and threw her arms around me and told me how much she loves me. What a sweetheart!!

Another Year Older

So I celebrated another birthday today. I ended up having to work last night and again tonight. But it wasn't too bad. I was on facebook at work and the birthday wishes started pouring in well before my actual bday! I also got several texts from family and friends with more birthday wishes, thanks to everyone for all the thoughtful wishes and comments!

When I got home, I helped Allen get the girls off to school and then went to bed. When I woke up, Mom, Sarah and Audrey were at the house. Allen met Becky in Brigham to pick them up. AND THEN my husband finally wished me a happy birthday. (we'd been arguing a little over the last few days and weren't on the best speaking terms) We tried out a new recipe that night for dinner - French Bread Pizza. It was really good. Everyone loved it. We even made some with white sauce for Sarah and Audrey and they ate it up!

Then Allen and I went to get an ice cream together while Mom watched the kids. We used a gift certificate that we had and so we didn't spend any money (with Allen out of work, things have been tight-so we are working very hard at watching what we spend!). When we got home we got everyone to bed and then I headed to work. Allen and the girls and Mom gave me a gift certificate to get my hair done. It was very much appreciated and needed! Another year younger and wiser!!

A new LPN

A good friend of mine just graduated from the LPN program at Bridgerland and took her boards on Wednesday. I just happen to be a little bit of a nosy body and I snooped tonight on the DOPL website. The verdict is......she PASSED! Congrats, Ally, I am so proud of you and so excited for you!! You are going to be a GREAT nurse.

FHE funnies

With my work schedule lately, we have gotten a little behind on our family scripture study, so this week for FHE we had some scripture study time. We were reading chapter 9 of 2 Nephi where it discusses resurrection and our perfect beings. I thought Allen and I were doing so good in explaining things as we read. One of the times we stopped reading to discuss a few things, we told the girls that we would have perfect bodies. They asked what that meant exactly, and as we were trying to explain, we said that Sam wouldn't have all of her scars on her belly anymore and that she wouldn't need her medicine because her body would be in perfect form. Then Danni looked at me and said, "mom, does that mean that you won't have all those bumps on your face anymore?" All I could do was laugh. Leave it to my 8 year old to remind me that a 30-something year old woman still does get zits!! Love you, Bubba!

Mean Mom

I was scheduled to work at the hospital tonight but got cut and was tyring to get tax papers together. I heard Sam and Danni downstairs trying to convince Allen of something, but heard him saying, "you'll just have to ask Mom." Then I hear them whispering to each other as they make it up to me. And Danni asks me if they can play with some of my baskets I have sitting up on top of the kitchen cupboards. i asked waht they wanted them for and they said they were playing Little Red Riding Hood. So I told them they could play with them if Dad could get the baskets down, they were so excited that they turned around and ran down the stairs and then I hear Danni say, "see, Sam, she doesn't always say no!" I must be a pretty mean mom!!

Manic Monday

The girls started back to school today and had a difficult time getting back into the routine. I got home from work this morning about 7:45 and everyone was still in bed, including Allen. I went in to stir the girls and Danni informed she was NOT going to school because she did not sleep well. I told her too bad and she had better get up. Last night we sent them to bed early for that very reason, but both her and Sam fought sleep as hard as possible. Next, I went upstairs to wake Allen up. He had just as hard a time as the girls. Rock woke right up, laid down next to Allen and fell back to sleep for a few minutes, then was wide awake again. I think they could all learn a thing or two from him.

Finally got everyone up and moving, breakfast was eaten, teeth brushed (after several times of being asked) and the girls dressed in their new Christmas clothes. By this time they were excited to go back to school and see all their friends. And Danni was ecstatic to get back to learning. Allen dropped them off at school while Rock and I snuggled together to watch Hunchback of Notre Dame.

I made Allen a to do list of grocery shopping, going to the bank, oil change, pharmacy, laundry, etc. and then he and Rock were off. I, then, got to go to bed and didn't wake up til 5:45! Thanks, family, for letting me sleep. When I got up, Allen and I made dinner, yummy pork chops, snowy mashed potatoes and green beans. We then cleaned up the house, I showered and we had Family Home Evening.

We finally were able to get the kids bathed and in bed, although fighting sleep again. I got ready for work and when I left Rock had finally given up, but the girls were still going strong. Hopefully by now they are sleeping because I'm fairly sure Allen is in bed. I'm sure in the morning I'll be fighting them to wak up again. The Christmas break sure messed with our schedule, and hopefully it won't take too long to back in the swing of things.

Emery County

Allen and the kids were headed to Idaho for A.J.'s baptism when Shaun called Allen with some news we had been waiting for. Allen had been waiting for a chance to apply for a job with the Post Office in which Shaun's friend is the post master. Shaun told him to hurry down to meet with the post master and apply for the job. They were halfway to Pocatello and turned around to head south instead. Unfornately, I had to work all weekend and didn't get to go. They got down there in time for Allen to go to dinner stag with a groupd of Kris and Shaun's friends. Ashton watched the kids for him.

On Friday, Allen did meet with the post master and talked about work things and it sounds like things are going to work out well. Now we just need to wait for the job to post online so that Allen can apply and go through the process.

The kids got to visit and hang out there at Kris and Shaun's. Allen told me that Rock just loved on Kris and Ashton and that he followed Kris everywhere. She has always been so good witht he little ones. While she was cooking dinner she just set him up on the counter next to her and let him help. He was in heaven. He was a little leary of Shaun, though. Just not quite sure what to think of him. At one point, Rock was playing with the mini Littlest Pet Shops and somehow he opened one of the containers and a little pet fell onto his shirt. Rock freaked out not knowing what it was. The only person sitting there next to him was Uncle Shaun, and Shaun freaked out too, not knowing what it was. He thought it was some wort of bug and it took him a while to flip it off Rock because he didn't know what it was. When he realized it was just a toy, he took it off Rock's shirt and showe Rock what it was, but by that point Rock was totally petrified of it and just screamed when he saw him. It's a good thing he had such a brave uncle sitting next to him to save him from those scary Littlest Pet Shops!!

The girls said they had lots of fun seeing their cousins and aunt and uncle that they haven't seen too much lately. Sam came home with a new coat from Ashton. I asked whay Ash gave it to her and Sam told me she won it from Ashton as payment for Sam tickling Ashton's back. Then Danni told me Ashton paid her a dollar for tickling Ashton's back. Ashton is a true Wilstead for loving her back tickled so much and being willing to pay for it!!

It was also Gage's birthday over the weekend and I texted him to tell him happy birthday. I also told him I missed him and loved him and he just responded back in a text by saying thanks. I guess he's too old for me to talk to him like that anymore. I can't believe how big he is getting!! What good kids those two are.
