Danni's getting baptized

Danni is so excited to get baptized this month. She has been looking forward to it ever since Sam was baptized. What makes it even more special is that she gets to have her Daddy baptize her. She has been after him for a long time to make sure that he would be worthy to baptize her, and she got her wish. We are all so excited. This has been such a busy and exciting month!!

Temple Day

Today we finally became a Forever Family. We have been looking forward to this day for so long that it just seems so unreal. It was a long day, and somewhat overwhelming, but a wonderful day. Allen and I took out our endowments as well, today, which made for a lengthy day. We had lots of friends and family there to show their support. Glenna and Patty kept the kids while Allen and I, Becky and Randy, Kelly and Mom all left early together for the temple. Glenna brought the kids up to temple for us later. I think we were both warned enough to think about how we felt during everything and not to focus so much what was being done so as not to be "freaked out". So, even though I don't understand everything, it was amazing.

When the kids got to the temple, they were taken to a nursery with temple workers to stay with them. Sammi called them the "angels". The angels helped them dress in their white clothing and kept them entertained until the sealing. As we sat in the sealing room listening to the sealer talk to us, we could hear when our kids were outside the door. We could hear Rock saying, "whas sat" over and over, which brought smiles to our faces. After Allen and I were sealed, the kids were brought into us, and they were so beautiful and angelic, it made me cry. As we knelt together at the alter, it was the most amazing feeling I have ever had and today was the happiest day of my life. And even through Rock screamed the entire time he had to sit at the alter with us, I will never forget how I felt and what the ceremony means for us as a family.

When we came out of the temple, Dad and Denise were there waiting for us to show their support. I also got to visit with a couple of old, dear high school friends that came to show me their support after not seeing them for so many years, it was a wonderful surprise. Then we headed to the church for lunch and visiting. A couple of Allen's old coworkers came and it was so wonderful to catch up with them and hear about their families. Bryce, Allen's old boss, said he could hardly believe it when he got our announcement. He said that he dropped the card and his jaw hit the floor. He wondered if it was some sort of practical joke. Then he called everyone they used to work with to share the news. He said he wouldn't have missed being there for anything. It was so wonderful to catch up with him.

We had so many freinds and family and ward members show their love and support. Even ones who couldn't go their the temple with us. It meant so much to us just to know they cared. Holly surprised us in the sealing room. The last we heard she wasn't going to be able to make it, but when Allen and I walked into the sealing room, she was sitting there. Her and Rick drove down from Rigby for the day just to rejoice with us. Thanks to everyone for your love and support!!

Pictures in our Whites

A friend from work, who took our last family pictures, took our pictures in our white temple clothes. Rock was NOT happy about it at all. He did not want to cooperate for even one minute. We did get a few great shots but lots of them with us trying to make Rock happy and no one looking at the camera-except Bubba. Terri took over 500 pictures and in almost every single one, Danni is set and ready, looking at the camera with a big smile on her face, even when no one else is looking at the camera.

At one point, we were sitting on the grass in front of the temple and Rock decided he had had it. He turned around and stuck his butt in the air right at the camera. The rest of us just laughed and laughed-except Bubba. She stayed posed and ready for the next shot!! Later, we were getting pictures of just Allen and I and Sam took rock for a little walk around the temple grounds, while still wearing their white clothes. When they came back around to us, Rock's butt was pure brown. Sam said he sat down and scooted around. When we asked her why she didn't stop him, she just said that she didn't want to make him cry. Sometimes I wish I could see into our kids' minds and see why and how they think these things!!

We were supposed to do an outfit change, but with Rock's attitude we decided to postpone, which made the girls happy as well. I also think Allen was a little excited by that decision. Oh how we love family picture time!!

Parent Teacher Conference

Today was Parent Teacher Conferences and once again both girls got raving reviews. Sam is progressing so much and all the teachers just adore her. I am told that she is so helpful and all the kids love her. Also that she is always very nice and sweet to everyone. I asked the teacher if we were talking about the same kid!?! Actually, I am very proud of her. I know things don't always come easy for her and she really has to work hard at things, but she is doing amazing. I love you Sam and am very proud of your determination!
Danni, too, is doing awesome. She is excelling in every subject and is at advancement placement in reading and writing. She loves school and anything to do with school work. She loves to read and makes sure to read every night, at least her 20 minutes, usually more. Good Job, Bubba, I love you!!

Dr. Molly

Sam had a check-up with Dr. Molly today and things went great - again! Dr. Molly was impressed with how much she is growing and how well all her liver numbers look. Once again she had to go show her off to Dr. Myers, the surgeon. Because they all thought that there was no way Sam would make it all those years ago, Dr. Molly loves to show her off and let everyone know how much of a medical miracle she is. We absolutely LOVE Dr. Molly!!!

Demolition Derby

This weekend Mom came up from St. George to visit. She plans on dividing her time between ours and Becky's houses. Tonight Becky and Randy and family came up with Mom to go to the Demolition Derby. We met at Olive Garden (yummy!) for dinner and then we all went to the Cache County Sheriff's Department Demolition Derby. The kids were excited and it definitely lived up to their expectations. I have to admit that it got pretty intense at times and I really enjoyed myself. Allen and Randy decided that they want to one day participate in a derby (we'll see if it ever really happens).
I was scheduled to work at the nursing home that night, so we were making sure to leave on time. On our way out of the fair grounds we stopped at the bathrooms for the kids to all go. The next thing I know Mom comes running out yelling at Allen to take the baby away from me and then Sam comes out screaming and crying with blood dripping everywhere. Somehow she had cut her hand on one of the bathroom stall doors. I pretty well had to tackle her in order for her to let me look at her hand and get it cleaned up. It looked pretty deep so we went to the ER. They numbed it up to look at it because she was quite hysterical. It was a clean cut so they were able to glue it shut instead of stitches, which made Sam much happier.
Mom was planning on going back to Bountiful, but ended up coming home with us so that she could watch Rock and Bubba while we were at the ER. Thanks Mom for helping out!!
I did finally make it to work, but was an hour late. Thankfully the nurse going off duty was understanding and willing to work with me. And I'm so glad Sam's hand wasn't any worse than it was. When I saw all that blood I was really scared. I can handle the blood, but when it is on your own daughter, it is something else entirely.

Dentist

The girls had another dentist appointment today and it went great! No cavities and their teeth look really good. Bubba needs to have sealants done, but other than that no dental work! But, we did get a referral to an orthodontist for Sam to have her teeth looked at to consider braces. Dr. Doug thinks she is ready-man she is getting way to big!!

Many Changes

On August 30 Allen was ordained an Elder by our brother-in-law, Randy. It has been such a long, trying road to get here, but we knew one day we would. Now we are able to go through the temple and become a forever family. We are so excited! The girls are beside themselves with anticipation, especially Danni. She bore her testimony in sacrament on Sunday starting with "I'd like to bury my testimony..." So cute!! She was very nervous. There was another sister waiting on the stand when Danni got there and she turned to her and asked if she could go first; the sister of course, said yes. Sometimes I wish I had their courage and could say exactly what I wanted :) She finished her testimoney saying how excited she was "to go to the temple and be sealed to my family. Amen." And then ran off the stage and back to our bench. She got many thank yous and congratulations from the congregation after sacrament.
